Sales Tax Act
Be it resolved by The Emperor's Most Excellent Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Lords Temporal in this present Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:

  1. A tax shall be imposed on all transaction that result in the purchase of items.
  2. This tax amount shall be determined based on the end total price of a sales transaction.
  3. The tax shall be set at a rate of 5%.
  4. Purchases made by the government of Kirkland shall be exempt from the sales tax.
  5. Purchases made from organisations that are listed as non-profit organisations shall be exempt from the sales tax.
  6. Purchase of food items shall be exempt from the sales tax.
  7. An additional luxury sales tax shall be placed on all items that are more than ₤250 that shall be charged at a rate of 15%. The luxury sales tax shall be determined separately from the regular sales tax and shall only be administered on the cost of the luxury item(s) being bought, not the purchase total for an entire transaction.
  8. Sales taxes shall be added on to the end of the purchase total and shall constitute the final balance due for the payment of a transaction.

Most of the votes having been cast in favor of passage the bill passes. The Sales Tax Act is adopted.
